Bridge Load Rating Engineer

Office: Rochester or Buffalo, NY

Position: Full-Time

RE&LS is immediately seeking a Bridge Load Rating Engineer to work on bridge inspection projects in the Western New York area. We are looking for a self-motivated, team-oriented engineer with strong communication skills and a working knowledge of bridges (design, load rating, construction, and/or condition inspections).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform Level 1 Load Ratings and structural analyses on in-service bridges
• Update and create NYSDOT Level 2 Load Rating input data
• Supervise assistant load rating engineer
• Perform in-depth field inspections for load ratings
• Prepare load rating report

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
• 4-5 years bridge design and/or bridge inspection load rating experience
• NYS Professional Engineering license required
• Must possess valid driver’s license

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with NYSDOT preferred
• Familiarity and experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software preferred
• NYS Professional Engineering license required
• Must be able to efficiently plan, organize, and execute work
• The job requires proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
