Nagappa Ravindra, P.E.

President

Nagappa Ravindra, known to many as Ravi, founded his namesake firm in 1995 after having been in the consulting engineering field for over 26 years. In the years since, RE&LS has grown to become a large multi-disciplined firm of highly professional staff. In 2011, Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C., was honored as a Top 100 company in Rochester, NY, by the Rochester Business Journal.

With a Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering from Syracuse University and a Bachelors Degree from Indian Institute of Technology-Chennai, Ravi specializes in the design of buildings, bridges and special structures. His experience has included administration, project management and design on various healthcare, manufacturing, institutional, retail, housing and public sector projects. His strong leadership has led to the success of many projects, including several notable multi-story buildings throughout the northeastern United States. He is currently licensed in the states of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Ohio.

Ravi is a member of many technical organizations including American Concrete Institute, AISC, ABCD, ACEC, NYSCHSA, and NYSATE. Recently, he served as the New York State board member of the American Council of Engineering Companies.

David Honnick, P.L.S.

Vice President, Survey Design Manager

Mr. Honnick was promoted from Design Survey Project Manager to Vice President in 2021, continuing the strengths of service and reliability RE&LS has earned among it’s core client markets of civil and transportation construction. Having joined the firm in 2018, Dave brings 26 years of experience in Land Surveying. As Design Survey Project Manager, Dave has provided survey and mapping on numerous projects related to educational facilities, municipal structures, highway construction, and utility infrastructure for RE&LS. He has worked extensively throughout his career with state, federal and municipal agencies in the Central and Western New York regions.

The RE&LS Survey department uses advanced technology for the most accurate and advanced mapping results including High Definition Laser Scanning, Machine Control/3D Modeling capabilities, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) services.

Mr. Honnick is an active member of the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors (NYSAPLS).

Benjamin Reddy

Environmental Department Manager

Mr. Reddy has over 16 years of experience with environmental-related projects, including asbestos, lead, and PCB abatement, regulatory compliance, radon studies, environmental and hazardous waste assessments. His involvement has consisted of site investigations, collection of asbestos and hazardous waste materials, development of contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for remediation projects, asbestos management plans, contractor oversight, and report generation.

In 2023, Mr. Reddy was promoted to Environmental Engineering Department Manager, overseeing a team of environmental professionals as they conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, hazardous material surveys, construction oversight, and environmental screenings.

Timothy Wade, P.E.

Structural Department Manager

Timothy Wade, P.E., has over 40 years of technical and managerial experience. He has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, S.C., and obtained an A.A.S. Degree in welding from Greenville Technical College.

Mr. Wade has an extensive design and project management background as well as managing and inspecting construction. His projects have included wastewater treatment, various industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. He also has in-depth knowledge of masonry, structural steel, timber framing, Cold-Form Metal Framing (CFMF), and cast-in-place concrete structures used in the construction.

Mr. Wade's professional affiliations include the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES), American Welding Society (AWS), and is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Mr. Wade is licensed as a professional engineer in NY, PA, RI, SC, NC, GA, VA, TX, MS, and WA.

Daniel Roop

Business Development  Manager

Mr. Roop joined Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C., in 1997 and is currently serving as the Business Development Manager. He brings nearly 40 years of specialized experience in the construction industry and works to cultivate and strengthen network connections for the organization.

Mr. Roop holds a degree in Engineering Technology from Monroe Community College. His certifications and continuing education include N.I.C.E.T. Level IV - Highway Construction, N.I.C.E.T. Level III - Construction Material Testing, ACI Concrete, NYSDOT AGC/DOT Bridge Construction Workshop and Primavera Project Management Module-Basic.

Sean Schumacher

Construction Services Department Manager

Mr. Schumacher has been with RE&LS since 2015 and has over 30 years of experience with the inspection and administration of highway and bridge projects. He is responsible for developing strategic relationships with clients and maintaining an experienced team of construction inspection personnel. His role includes the continued expansion of Construction Inspection Services for RE&LS - leading and arranging teams, training, and recruitment as well as project management and coordination.

On our construction inspection projects, Mr. Schumacher is responsible for monitoring budget costs, inspector certifications and continuing education. He manages scheduling, job site visits, and preparing ongoing project reports.

 

Rick Papaj, P.E.

Transportation Group Manager

Rick Papaj, P.E., joined RE&LS as the Director of Transportation overseeing staff on transportation and vertical service projects. He is responsible for the oversight of proposing, securing and managing project elements which may include staffing, negotiating, construction inspections, and special inspections.

Mr. Papaj’s long career with the NYSDOT saw him serve as the Project Management Unit Manager for Region 4 Planning, responsible for the scheduling and funding management of hundreds of state and federally funded projects. In working for the Region 4 Transportation Improvement Program alone, he oversaw nearly $500M in spending over 7 years.

Mr. Papaj is licensed in New York State as a Professional Engineer, a Licensed Building Inspector, Code Enforcement Official, and DHS FEMA Enter-On-Duty (EOD). He is a current board member on American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and is an active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA), NYS County Highway Association and New York State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSATE).

Sean J. Baldwin

Survey Department Manager

Sean J. Baldwin, joined RE&LS in 2006 and was promoted to the Survey Department Manager in 2021.  He has over 25 years of experience in all phases of surveying for various state agencies, municipalities and counties across NYS including NYSDOT & NYSTA. Mr. Baldwin is responsible for leading field survey crews in the creation of right-of-way, topographic, utility and control survey projects. Equipment expertise includes standard GPS tools as well as robotic total stations. He also provides extensive experience in survey mapping and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation. Mr. Baldwin is instrumental in the Quality Control of all deliverables on projects varying in size & detail.

Brad Grisley, P.E.

Bridge Inspection and Design Group

Brad Grisley, P.E., joins RE&LS as the Manager of Bridge Design & Inspection group. A graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, Mr. Grisley brings over 34 years of culvert, bridge and structural engineering experience to the Transportation group of RE&LS.

Mr. Grisley’s past experience with the NYSDOT and having served as Chairman of the Region 4 Bridge Management Committee brings valuable insight to address the requirements in managing municipal projects and planning for structure preservation. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York State ct.
