Nagappa Ravindra, P.E.


Nagappa Ravindra, known to many as Ravi, founded his namesake firm in 1995 after having been in the consulting engineering field for over 20 years. In the years since, RE&LS has grown to become a large multi-disciplined firm of highly professional staff. In 2011, Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C., was honored as a Top 100 company in Rochester, NY, by the Rochester Business Journal.

With a Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering from Syracuse University and a Bachelors Degree from Indian Institute of Technology-Chennai, Ravi specializes in the design of buildings, bridges and special structures. His experience has included administration, project management and design on various healthcare, manufacturing, institutional, retail, housing and public sector projects. His strong leadership has led to the success of many projects, including several notable multi-story buildings throughout the northeastern United States. He is currently licensed in the states of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Ohio.

Ravi is a member of many technical organizations including American Concrete Institute, AISC, ABCD, ACEC, NYSCHSA, and NYSATE. Recently, he served as the New York State board member of the American Council of Engineering Companies.

David Honnick, P.L.S.

Vice President, Survey Department

Mr. Honnick was promoted from Design Survey Project Manager to Vice President in 2021, continuing the strengths of service and reliability RE&LS has earned among it’s core client markets of civil and transportation construction. Having joined the firm in 2018, Dave brings 24 years of experience in Land Surveying. As Design Survey Project Manager, Dave has provided survey and mapping on numerous projects related to educational facilities, municipal structures, highway construction, and utility infrastructure for RE&LS. He has worked extensively throughout his career with state, federal and municipal agencies in the Central and Western New York regions.

The RE&LS Survey department uses advanced technology for the most accurate and advanced mapping results including High Definition Laser Scanning, Machine Control/3D Modeling capabilities, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) services.

Mr. Honnick is an active member of the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors (NYSAPLS).

Nancy Van Dussen, P.E.

Environmental Department Manager

Ms. Van Dussen joined RE&LS in 2006 to establish the Environmental Engineering department. The department has since grown to a include a diverse group of professionals serving a wide range of public and private sector clients.

Ms. Van Dussen holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and offers more than 25 years of environmental engineering experience with a focus on large transportation and civil projects. She has led many multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of environmental, transportation, and planning projects.

Ms. Van Dussen is a Member of National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE- Monroe Chapter), and is a licensed engineer in the state of New York.

Tim Wade, P.E.

Structural Department Manager

Tim Wade, P.E., has over 25 years of diversified experience as a Project Manager and Design Engineer. Mr. Wade has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, S.C.

A proven professional with a desire to excel, he has extensive experience managing and inspecting construction. Mr. Wade's projects have included waste treatment, various industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. He also has thorough knowledge of cast-in-place concrete structures used in the construction of foundations, basement walls and waste water treatment plants.

Mr. Wade's professional affiliations include the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) as well as the American Welding Society (AWS), and he holds current certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Mr. Wade is licensed as a professional engineer in NY, SC, NC, GA, VA, TX, MS, MA and TN.

Daniel Roop

Construction Services Department Manager

Mr. Roop joined Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C., in 1997 and heads the Construction Services department. Mr. Roop brings over 37 years of experience, and specializes in construction inspection and associated managerial responsibilities related to bridge, highway and building projects.

He has been in charge of structural aspects of bridge projects in the Rochester area for numerous high profile and complex NYSDOT bridge projects including: the Troup Howell Bridge Project, the "Can of Worms," I-490/I-590 reconstruction, and the reconstruction of Inner Loop bridges and ramps in downtown Rochester.

Mr. Roop holds a degree in Engineering Technology from Monroe Community College. His certifications and continuing education include N.I.C.E.T. Level IV - Highway Construction, N.I.C.E.T. Level III - Construction Material Testing, ACI Concrete, NYSDOT AGC/DOT Bridge Construction Workshop and Primavera Project Management Module-Basic.

Rick Papaj, P.E.

Transportation Group Manager

Rick Papaj, P.E., joins RE&LS as the Transportation Group Manager overseeing staff on transportation and vertical construction projects. He is responsible for the oversight of proposing, securing and managing project elements which may include staffing, negotiating, construction inspections, and special inspections.

Mr. Papaj’s long career with the NYSDOT saw him serve as the Project Management Unit Manager for Region 4 Planning, responsible for the scheduling and funding management of hundreds of state and federally funded projects. In working for the Region 4 Transportation Improvement Program alone, he oversaw nearly $500M in spending over 7 years.

Mr. Papaj is licensed in New York State as a Professional Engineer, a Licensed Building Inspector, Code Enforcement Official, and DHS FEMA Enter-On-Duty (EOD). He is a current member of the New York State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSTE), American Public Works Association (APWA), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).

Brad Grisley, P.E.

Bridge Inspection and Design Group

Brad Grisley, P.E., joins RE&LS as the Manager of Bridge Design & Inspection group. A graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, Mr. Grisley brings over 34 years of culvert, bridge and structural engineering experience to the Transportation group of RE&LS.

Mr. Grisley’s past experience with the NYSDOT and having served as Chairman of the Region 4 Bridge Management Committee brings valuable insight to address the requirements in managing these municipal projects and planning for structure preservation. His daily responsibilities for RE&LS will include project management and scheduling for RE&LS inspection teams.

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York State, Mr. Grisley’s portfolio includes representing RE&LS as Prime Consultant for the NYSDOT Regions 3 & 7 Biennial Bridge Inspections, and developing the WZTC plans for the Monroe County Highway Lighting Rehabilitation NW 1 project.
