Utility Designating Technician - Immediate Hire (Rochester) 4.11.2017

Job description

Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is seeking a UTILITY DESIGNATING TECHNICIAN for our design and construction survey departments.

The Utility Designation Technician will be responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient locating of underground utilities including telecommunications, electric, power, cable TV, gas, water and sewer systems. This includes taking time to thoroughly search for underground utilities in an area, properly marking the location, and completing the necessary paperwork in accordance with company guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in the Utility Designating or Subsurface Utility Engineering or an equivalent industry and, at least, hold a HS Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing utility designation and mark out for design and construction-related surveying projects.
  • The successful designation of multiple underground utilities in accordance with CI/ASCE 38-02 Quality Level B Data using various pieces of electromagnetic and ground penetrating radar equipment.
  • Performing various office tasks including equipment and vehicle maintenance, project kick off meetings, and utility records research.
  • Work involves daily outside exposure and frequent walking, bending and digging.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in underground utilities infrastructure using electromagnetic, and GPR methods preferred.
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Video Pipe Inspection experience a plus.
  • Ability to complete a field sketch and document all work.
  • Must be able to remove and replace manhole lids.
  • Must be computer proficient
  • Capacity to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Capability to work 8 or more hours a day, weekends, travel throughout the entire service area, and overtime as needed.
  • Land Survey experience, a plus.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday and occasional on-call may require weekend or holiday work

Highway/Civil Design Engineer (Rochester/Buffalo) 4.11.2017

Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is currently seeking Highway/Civil Design Engineers with 5-15 years experience to join our Transportation Group in our Rochester and Buffalo, NY offices. Experience is required in technical report preparation, on-site inspections, traffic studies, planning and design. Will be responsible for design of horizontal/vertical geometry, elevations, drainage, traffic control, signing, water main design and sewer design, erosion and sediment control, etc. associated with medium to large-scale highway improvement projects. Experience preferred on NYSDOT, NYS Thruway, County, and Local Roadway & Bridge Projects. Requirements and qualifications include a BS degree in civil engineering. Should be proficient in MicroStation and InRoads programs. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. NYS P.E. required, or ability to obtain.

Survey Technician - Immediate Hire (Rochester) 4.14.17

Ravi Engineering &Land Surveying, P.C. is seeking qualified candidates for a highly motivated Survey Technician with 3-5 years of production experience for its Rochester, NY office. The Survey Technician supports a broad range of land surveying and related services for municipal, state, and private clients. The ideal candidate should possess high integrity and have excellent attention to detail to conduct all work in accordance with highest professional standards and company policies, procedures, and programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs data reduction, field note reduction, calculations and data checks.
  • Assists Project Managers in preparation of topographic, control, boundary, utility, ALTA, as-built surveys as well as construction/heavy civil layout for Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Municipal projects.
  • Participates as required with the in-house planning procedure and development of the project schedule. Fulfill schedule obligations. Consults with the survey manager when there are scheduling issues or conflicts.
  • Download/upload survey related information in data collector, as well as to perform necessary calculations for the required field work.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or Technical Degree preferred.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experienced in boundary and Right of Way computations.
  • Able to conduct in-depth research of property documentation. i.e. deeds, maps, easements, etc.
  • Demonstrates experience in working in CADD environment (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley InRoads).
  • Good technical skills; behavioral traits of process-oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, a problem solver, likes to work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail-oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with office and field personnel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Construction Survey Party Chief (Rochester/Albany) 4.14.2017

Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Construction Survey Party Chief with a minimum of 5 years of surveying experience, especially with projects involving construction stakeout.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform fieldwork for road, bridge, utility, and building stakeouts.
  • Computations related to construction stakeout.
  • Keeping detailed field notes of stakeout activities.
  • Downloading and processing survey data.
  • Communicating and scheduling work with contractors.
  • Some overnight travel is required.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must be able to assume responsible charge of a field crew.

Bridge Engineer (Rochester/Buffalo ) 4.14.2017

Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is currently seeking a Bridge Engineer to perform bridge design and possible condition inspections in support of various transportation projects. We are looking for someone who can work semi-independently under senior engineers and coordinate with other disciplines. Good communication and writing skills are essential as this person will assist senior engineers in communicating with clients on technical matters. It is expected that this individual will take on increasingly challenging assignments and progress to senior engineer role.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S.C.E. with concentration in structures.
  • 5-10 years of experience in bridge design.
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD specifications and familiar with NYSDOT design standards.
  • NY licensed PE license preferred.
  • AutoCadd and Microstation skills preferred helpful.

Construction Inspectors - Statewide & Pennsylvania 4.14.2017

Candidates must have NICET Certification in Transportation/Highway and Bridge Construction; (NYSDOT, NYSTA experience preferred) ACI or ATSSA certifications are also desirable. Additional certs such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Certification, NETTCP Soil & Aggregate Certification,SPEDS etc. preferred. Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues. Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle. Occasional irregular or extended work hours such as Night Shift /Weekend work availability. Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform quantity and engineering computations.
